The Ski Trab Gavia 85 is a ski touring ski designed for those tackling demanding outings on variable terrain, where snow consistency changes throughout the day and conditions are never predictable. With a tip width of 85 mm, it falls into the all-mountain touring segment: narrow enough to ensure lightness and precision on the ascent, yet supportive enough to handle fresh snow, crust, and packed snow on the descent.
Construction and materials
The structure utilizes a paulownia wood sandwich cap, chosen for its optimal balance of torsional rigidity and low weight, a crucial feature when every gram counts on long ascents. The ski's geometry incorporates a rocker geometry in the tip that facilitates entry into deep or irregular snow, while maintaining a more traditional tail for secure and controlled steering on hard snow.
Field performance
