DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Ortles Straight/Bent 170 is a sport climbing quickdraw that combines two carabiners with different gate types—one straight gate and one bent gate—connected by a 170mm high-strength nylon sling. The choice to combine different gate types is not random: it addresses distinct needs along a climb, where the lower carabiner must easily receive the rope and the upper one must remain stable on the bolt.
Technical details
The straight gate carabiner features a thumb grip zone that improves control during clipping, reducing the risk of accidental opening. The keylock nose profile eliminates protrusions that could snag on gear or rock during maneuvers. The bent gate carabiner, on the other hand, is designed for the lower end of the quickdraw: its shape facilitates quick rope insertion even in awkward positions or under strain.
