DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Neox is an assisted-braking belay device specifically designed for lead climbers, both indoors and outdoors. The system stands out due to an integrated wheel that reduces rope friction during feeding, making rope handling significantly smoother than with traditional plate-style belay devices. This translates to quicker and more precise rope recovery, a tangible advantage when the lead climber is tackling continuous sequences or fast movements.
Safety mechanism and rope handling
Assisted braking occurs via an internal cam that automatically engages in the event of a fall, blocking the rope without requiring active gripping by the belayer. The design is optimized for ropes with diameters between 8.5 mm and 10.5 mm, covering the entire range of sport climbing ropes currently available on the market. The release lever allows for controlled lowering of the lead climber even after braking, always maintaining full control of the descent.
