DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Grigri is the most widely used assisted-braking belay device in the world for sport climbing. Its pivoting cam mechanism automatically locks the rope in the event of a fall, significantly reducing the effort required by the belayer compared to a traditional belay device. It works for both leading and top-roping, making it suitable for any session at the gym or crag.
Operation and lowering control
The integrated ergonomic handle allows for precise control of the lowering speed: a gradual squeeze progressively opens the cam, ensuring smooth and constant control even over long distances. This mechanism reduces fatigue on the brake hand, which is important for long sessions or when belaying a climber significantly heavier than oneself.
