DESCRIPTION
The KONG HMS Napik Orange is a pear-shaped screw-gate carabiner specifically designed for belaying techniques using the Italian hitch (HMS). The wide base geometry, typical of the pear shape, allows the knot to slide and rotate correctly during progression and rappelling, reducing unwanted friction and ensuring smooth rope control.
Construction and locking system
Made of aluminum alloy, the Napik offers a good balance between mechanical strength and weight containment. The Keylock system—the absence of a hooked nose on the gate—eliminates the risk of accidental snagging on rings, slings, and maillon screws, making operations at the belay station safer and faster. The screw gate locks the gate simply and reliably, making it suitable for use with tubular belay devices and during double rope rappelling.
