DESCRIPTION
The CAMP Express Ring Dyneema 8.5 mm is a sewn sling made of Dyneema®, the UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) fiber that offers one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios available on the market. With a thickness of only 8.5 mm, this ring stands out for its extremely thin profile, which makes it easier to use in contexts where space is limited.
Technical Applications
Its 60 cm length makes it versatile in many rock climbing situations, both sport and traditional. Thanks to its reduced diameter, it easily fits into hourglasses, the narrowest through-holes, and Abalakov ice anchors, where thicker slings would be difficult to insert. It can also be used to connect belay anchors and to build custom trad quickdraws by pairing it with suitable carabiners.
Lightness and Management
Dyneema® material ensures high tensile strength while keeping weight to a minimum, a fundamental feature when every gram counts, such as on multi-pitch climbs with a lot of gear or in alpine ascents. The sewn sling forms a closed loop without knots, preserving the integrity of the fibers and ensuring uniform load distribution. It should be noted that Dyneema® has low resistance to friction heat: its use as a dynamic abseil cord should be avoided.
