DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Wiregate Nut Tool is a tool for removing nuts stuck in rock, designed for climbers on traditional routes who need a reliable tool to retrieve nuts and stoppers jammed in cracks.
Construction and technical details
The body is made of CNC-machined aluminum, with milled windows that reduce overall weight without compromising structural rigidity. The rounded heel allows the tool to be used as a hammer: when a nut is particularly stuck, it can be hit forcefully without risking damage to either the tool or the protection. The integrated wiregate — the same closure system used in technical carabiners — allows it to be quickly attached to the harness or quickdraw during the climb, keeping it accessible without cluttering.
Use on route
When crack climbing or on routes with natural protection, it's not uncommon to permanently jam a nut. The Wiregate Nut Tool allows for precise action, inserting the tip into the cable loops of the nut to pry and free the protection even in awkward positions.
