The Black Diamond VaporLock Screwgate is a manual screwgate carabiner with a pear shape, designed for those tackling long days of free climbing and seeking to reduce every superfluous gram from their harness without sacrificing reliable performance. Weighing only 34 g, it is the lightest screwgate carabiner in Black Diamond's line, intended for those building an ultralight rack or working on long routes where every detail matters.
Construction and Geometry
The pear-shaped (HMS) profile promotes the correct positioning of the Munter hitch and makes the carabiner compatible with traditional belay systems, while maintaining the versatility needed for connecting to the harness. The body is made from high-strength aluminum alloy with an optimized cross-section that removes material where it's not needed, yet preserves structural rigidity along the main load axis. The screwgate ensures a secure closure even during the most dynamic movements.
