BLACK DIAMOND Stopper #5 - Grey is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Stopper #5 is a passive anodized aluminum alloy nut, born from the direct evolution of the first chocks that marked the history of clean climbing in the 1970s. Unlike active protection, the Stopper works by mechanical wedging into the rock: no moving parts, no maintenance, maximum reliability on the wall.
Geometry and Construction
The double-tapered profile is the distinctive element of this nut: the asymmetrical geometry allows for effective placements not only in classic parallel cracks, but also in flared cracks and shallow fissures, where nuts with uniform cross-sections tend to slip. The anodization of the aluminum alloy ensures corrosion resistance and long-lasting durability, even with intensive use on granite, sandstone, or limestone.
Usage and Placement in a Trad Rack
The number 5 covers an intermediate size in the Stopper range, suitable for medium-width cracks, and is designed to be part of a complete trad rack along with the other sizes in the series. The integrated pre-formed steel cable facilitates the removal of the protection with a nut tool and directly transmits the load to the carabiner. The distinct anodized coloring for each size accelerates quick identification on the wall. An essential, uncompromising piece of protection for those who practice traditional climbing with an eye to ethics and functionality.
