DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Camalot C4 is the benchmark spring-loaded camming device (SLCD) for crack climbing, available here in size 3, covering an opening range from 73.7 mm to 114.9 mm. This is an evolution of the previous version: the design has been completely rethought to reduce the weight by 10% compared to the original model, while maintaining certified strength.
Construction and technology
The cams have been redesigned with a lighter, sculpted profile, which optimizes force distribution on the rock without sacrificing contact surface. The double axle allows for a wider expansion range compared to single-axle friends, making the C4 particularly versatile in irregular or slightly flared cracks. The rigid steel stem ensures stability during placement, while the flexible stem reduces the probability of walking (friend migration in the crack) on long routes or with laterally stressed protection.
