The Black Diamond Bosun's Chair is a padded seat specifically designed for prolonged belays on big walls, where hanging in a harness for long periods without physical support can quickly become uncomfortable and tiring. Designed for those tackling long or challenging multi-pitch routes, it solves one of the most practical problems of high-altitude belaying: thigh pain caused by harness leg loops under load.
Construction and adaptability
The seat incorporates structured padding that distributes body weight more evenly than the harness alone, reducing pressure on critical points during static belays. The adjustable design allows for a customized fit to harnesses of different sizes and various layers of clothing, maintaining a stable and comfortable position even on the longest belays.
On-wall organization
An integrated daisy chain allows quickdraws, belay devices, chalk bags, or other accessories to be attached directly to the seat, keeping gear organized and easily accessible without cluttering the main harness.
