DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Wind Hood Softshell are technical gloves designed for high-intensity aerobic activities at altitude: ski mountaineering, mountain ultramarathon, winter trail running, and skyrunning on mixed terrain. Their design is based on a specific compromise: maximum breathability during exertion, immediate protection when conditions change.
Construction and materials
The body of the glove is made of 4-way stretch softshell, a fabric that ensures complete freedom of movement even with a clenched fist or while gripping poles and ice axes. The material's active breathability prevents overheating during high-intensity ascents, eliminating the need to remove gloves to release excess heat. The palm incorporates a grip material reinforcement that improves grip on wet or icy surfaces without stiffening the glove.
The Wind Hood system
The distinctive feature is the foldable hood integrated into the back of the glove: when not needed, it remains compact and out of the way; when the wind picks up or precipitation arrives, it deploys quickly with a single motion, even with gloves on, wrapping the knuckles and back of the hand with a weather-resistant layer. This system eliminates the need to switch to a heavier glove during outings where weather conditions are variable and unpredictable.
