DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Gridlock Triple Lock is a triple-lock carabiner developed specifically for belaying with tubular and plate devices, where the risk of cross-loading — accidental rotation of the carabiner on its transverse axis — is one of the main causes of reduced strength on the wall.
Gridlock System and Triple Lock Gate
The core of the design is the Gridlock system: a gate and body geometry that isolates the belay device and prevents its rotation, keeping the load always on the carabiner's major axis, where its strength is maximized. The Triple Lock three-movement gate can be easily operated with one hand, balancing passive safety and quick use in stressful situations.
