DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Vrillee is an anchor specifically designed for caving, intended to ensure the correct positioning of the carabiner relative to the rock wall. Thanks to its geometry, it keeps the carabiner parallel to the wall, optimizing rope passage during fixed rope progressions and ascending or descending maneuvers in caves.
Technical characteristics
- Made of aluminum, with a low weight of only 32 g, which makes it have minimal impact on the overall equipment, even on long trips with numerous anchors.
- Certified resistance of 15 kN, sufficient for the typical stresses of rope techniques in vertical underground environments.
- The plate's profile stably orientates the carabiner, reducing the risk of accidental rotation and improving rope glide at deviation points.
Use and context of use
The Vrillee finds its ideal use in single rope caving progression, where the correct management of anchors at deviations is crucial for safety and fluidity of movement. Installed on bolts or expansion anchors, it reduces rope wear and keeps the anchoring system organized even in confined spaces or awkward positions typical of the underground environment.
