DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Spatha is a cutting knife specifically designed for use on a rope team, intended to always be within reach during rock, ice, or mountain outings. Its main function is to allow for quick and safe cutting of ropes, cords, and slings in emergency situations or for routine equipment management.
Blade and opening mechanism
The blade profile is optimized for slicing synthetic fiber materials with minimal effort: the edge geometry ensures a clean cut even on small diameter cords. Opening is done via a side serrated thumb wheel, which allows the blade to be deployed with one hand and, most importantly, even with gloves on — a far from secondary detail in cold or wet conditions.
Integration with the harness
- Carabiner hole: allows the Spatha to be attached directly to a gear loop on the harness, preventing the risk of loss.
- Blade locking system that keeps the knife securely in place during transport and maneuvers.
