DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Nomic is a technical ice axe for ice climbing with a pronounced curve geometry, specifically developed for progression on vertical and overhanging icefalls. Its aggressive profile allows for pure traction, keeping the pick securely anchored even in the most challenging sections.
Technology and construction
The forged aluminum body integrates a system of strategically placed balancing weights to optimize inertia during the swing, reducing muscle fatigue during repeated movements. The interchangeable PUR'ICE stainless steel pick ensures precise penetration and reliable anchors on columnar, compact, and glassy ice. The pick can be replaced without special tools, significantly extending the tool's lifespan.
Ergonomics and grip
The modular dual handle allows for varying hand positions depending on the terrain, offering both a low grip for balance movements and a high grip during the swing. Both the main grip and secondary grip are covered in anti-slip material, for constant control even with thick gloves or in freezing conditions. The design of the handle minimizes wrist angle, reducing the risk of chronic fatigue during prolonged sessions.
