DESCRIPTION
The EDELRID G-Screamer is an ultralight webbing sling made of HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene) fiber with an integrated energy absorber, designed to reduce fall forces in situations where traditional protection is insufficient to guarantee adequate safety margins. Its compact architecture distinguishes it from conventional absorbing devices: with a length of only 15 cm, it fits directly between two carabiners like a normal webbing sling, without adding bulk to the belay chain.
Construction and Function
The absorber is sewn inside the sling using a progressive tearing system: in the event of a fall, the internal stitching opens sequentially, dissipating kinetic energy and containing the impact force below 6 kN, a critical threshold for preserving physical integrity and protection on friable rock or ice. The HMPE material guarantees an extremely low weight with high tensile strength, a characteristic that makes it suitable where every gram counts.
