DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Ortles Dyneema 8mm is a high-performance tubular sling built around the physical properties of Dyneema (UHMWPE), the synthetic polymer with the best strength-to-weight ratio available on the market today. With a diameter of only 8 mm, it offers a breaking strength of over 22 kN, a value normally associated with slings of much larger cross-section.
Why Dyneema changes performance
Dyneema fibers are intrinsically lighter than nylon and better resist abrasion and moisture absorption, characteristics that maintain their stated strength even in wet or cold conditions. The practical result is a sling that weighs significantly less than polyamide equivalents for the same breaking load, reducing the overall weight of the harness and technical equipment.
Use and identification
- 8 mm profile with reduced bulk: it is easy to knot even with gloves and can be managed without difficulty at belays or while moving
- Salewa color identification system integrated into the webbing to quickly distinguish the length and type of sling within the kit
- Suitable for use in sport climbing, mountaineering and via ferrata for extensions, anchors and belay systems
