DESCRIPTION
Skylotec Arpia 55 cm is a lightweight and compact ice axe designed for ski mountaineering, freeride, and high-altitude hiking. The 55 cm version is also available in 45 cm length.
The ergonomic stainless steel head and the curved anodized light alloy shaft are assembled with bonded technology, which reduces overall weight and increases the ice axe's impermeability. The stainless steel and anodized light alloy construction also ensures excellent protection against oxidation.
The head design features:
- A hand rest surface and a reduced thickness central section for optimal grip
- A lightened serrated pick, designed for excellent penetration in hard snow
- A durable adze designed for effective step cutting
The shaft offers several solutions for safety and practicality:
- Roughened finish at the end for better grip during use
- Pictogram indicating the correct connection point for use as an anchor or deadman anchor
- Adjustable hand rest (Handy model) to increase grip in technical sections
- Integrated spike in the shaft allowing the ice axe to be stored in a backpack without damaging it
- Polyamide insert to prevent snow accumulation inside the shaft
