DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Powertex I Bivibag is a technical one-person bivy sack designed for planned high-altitude bivouacs, where low weight and weather protection must coexist without compromise. The construction combines two fabrics with distinct functions: the waterproof nylon bottom and sides offer a solid barrier against moisture, wet snow, and rain, while the breathable Powertex fabric top allows body vapor to escape, significantly limiting condensation buildup inside during the night.
Protection and construction
The heat-sealed seams eliminate infiltration points along all joins of the sack, ensuring watertightness even in prolonged adverse weather conditions. The adjustable hood with drawstrings can be secured to natural elements like rocks or branches, so as to keep the opening oriented correctly with respect to wind and rain without manual intervention during the night.
Use in alpine environments
Its ideal intended use is for planned technical bivouacs: alpine outings with overnight stays on rock faces, high-altitude traverses, or situations where carrying a complete tent would be excessive. The sack fits into a backpack with minimal bulk and can be paired with any sleeping bag, adding a waterproof and windproof layer that extends its thermal capabilities on cold and humid nights typical of high mountains.
