DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Ortles Gore-Tex® 3L EPE is a hardshell jacket designed for high-altitude mountaineering, where weather conditions can change in minutes and there is no room for compromise. The 3-layer construction with a GORE-TEX ePE (expanded Polyethylene) membrane ensures complete waterproofing and superior breathability compared to traditional membranes, maintaining a stable internal microclimate even under intense exertion.
Technical construction and materials
The outer fabric is made from 100% recycled fiber and is completely PFAS-free, eliminating fluorocarbons from the production process without sacrificing water-repellent performance. The 3-layer structure fuses the outer, membrane, and inner layers into a single compact material, reducing weight and bulk to a minimum. The main zipper is a two-way taped zip, a appreciated feature when wearing a harness, as it allows the jacket to be opened from the bottom without removing it.
Mountaineering features
- Adjustable hood compatible with a mountaineering helmet, with enough volume to cover even the most structured models
- Two large external pockets with taped zippers, positioned to be accessible even with a harness fastened
- Adjustable cuffs and jacket hem with adjustment system to seal against wind and snow
