DESCRIPTION
The Petzl William Triact-Lock is a pear-shaped (HMS) screw-gate carabiner made of lightweight aluminum, designed for belay station management and belaying with the Munter hitch. Its enlarged asymmetrical geometry ensures a gate opening of 24 mm and a certified longitudinal strength of 25 kN, with 8 kN transversal and 8 kN with the gate open, fully complying with EN 362, EN 12275, and UIAA standards.
Construction and locking system
The Triact-Lock triple-action screw-gate system requires three distinct movements to open the gate—lift, twist, and push—reducing the risk of accidental opening during dynamic maneuvers. The Keylock system eliminates the hooked nose from the carabiner's head, preventing annoying snagging with ropes, slings, and rappel rings. The streamlined internal profile allows the rope to glide with less friction during belaying with the Munter hitch.
Use and strengths
- Suitable for direct belaying with a Munter hitch (HMS) thanks to its wide pear-shaped head
- Ideal for connecting the belay device to the anchor or harness
- The light weight of aircraft-grade aluminum makes it practical for use at crags and in the mountains
- Compatible with most Petzl belay and rappel devices
The combination of a highly secure automatic screw-gate and Keylock design makes the William Triact-Lock a reliable and versatile choice for those seeking an anchor connector with high safety margins and intuitive maneuverability.
