PETZL Pirana Guide - Orange is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
DESCRIPTION
The PETZL Pirana Guide is a tubular descender for canyoneering designed for those descending independently or managing a group during rappelling. Its distinctive feature is the adjustable braking system: the body's geometry allows for three different rope installation configurations, each of which alters the friction generated and thus the braking intensity. This enables the descent to be calibrated even before lifting one's feet off the rock, adapting to the rope diameter, the canyon's incline, or the user's weight.
Construction and compatibility
The body is made of anodized aluminum, resistant to abrasion even in wet and sandy environments typical of canyons. The tubular profile facilitates automatic rope locking in case of sudden release of the grip, offering safe performance even for those less experienced in managing descents. The device is compatible with ropes from 8 to 13 mm, covering the entire range of commonly used canyoneering ropes.
Additional functionalities
- Integrated braking spur to increase passive friction without changing configuration during descent
- Three installation positions to modulate the braking level based on conditions
- Compact profile, easily connectable to a standard locking carabiner
- Suitable for both individual use and supervising other participants in canyons
A concrete choice for those tackling technical canyons with variations in water flow or changing conditions, where the ability to quickly and reliably adjust braking makes the difference between a controlled descent and a critical situation.
