DESCRIPTION
Petzl FLY is the lightest harness in the entire Petzl range, designed specifically for those undertaking technical mountaineering and ski mountaineering excursions where every gram counts. Weighing in at just 105g, it represents a concrete choice for high-altitude ascents where the harness is only used if necessary and needs to weigh as little as possible in the backpack or on the body.
Technical construction and modularity
The structure is made of ultra-thin Dyneema fabric, which guarantees high resistance while minimizing weight and compressed volume. One of the most relevant features for mountain use is the ability to put it on and take it off without removing skis or crampons, thanks to the quick attachments on the leg loops that open laterally. The waistbelt and leg loops are equipped with removable padding: inserting them provides greater comfort for longer belays, while removing them further optimizes weight for fast ascents where lightness is a priority.
Who it is designed for
FLY is aimed at experienced mountaineers and ski mountaineers looking for an emergency harness or a fast technical trip, to be combined with a light rope and a few quickdraws. It is not designed for crag climbing sessions or prolonged belays on a wall: in those contexts, the lack of fixed padding limits comfort. It is instead ideal in a ski mountaineering backpack or on a light rope team on mixed terrain, where weight and speed of use make a difference.
