DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Fakir pouch is a dedicated solution for safely transporting technical crampons, designed for those undertaking ice climbing, mixed climbing, and high-altitude mountaineering. Its primary use is to protect the contents of a backpack from crampon points, but its internal versatility also allows it to accommodate ice screws, spare blades, and other metal ice accessories.
Construction and materials
The reinforced semi-rigid bottom is the distinctive technical element: it creates a physical barrier between the crampon teeth and the backpack body, eliminating the risk of punctures even with 12- or 14-point crampons with vertical front points. The pouch body is made of mesh material, a technical choice that serves two practical purposes: it ensures constant ventilation, which speeds up drying after use on snow and ice, and it allows immediate drainage of residual water without it accumulating inside.
Practical use
During approach or descent, crampons are stored in the Fakir and attached externally or placed inside the backpack without risk. The compact design does not add significant bulk to the equipment. The pouch is compatible with most mountaineering and ice climbing crampons, including Petzl models from the Dart and Lynx series.
