The Rock'n'Wool Headband by ORTOVOX is a thermal headband designed for those who face demanding outings on snow and ice, from freeride to ski touring and high-altitude mountaineering. The double-layer construction uses two complementary materials: the 100% Merino wool exterior offers natural insulation, moisture management, and odor control even after hours of intense activity, while the modal interior ensures high softness in contact with the skin, reducing chafing even under a helmet.
Why it works in alpine conditions
Merino wool is one of the few materials that actively regulates body temperature: it retains heat when the temperature drops and dissipates excess moisture during the most intense efforts, avoiding the classic "wet-cold" effect that characterizes low-quality synthetics. This thermoregulating capacity makes it particularly suitable for the thermal variations typical of high-altitude excursions, where one quickly transitions from a sweaty climb to a wind-exposed stop.
