DESCRIPTION
The CAMP Photon Lock is a screw-lock carabiner designed for belay stations on alpine and multi-pitch sport climbing routes, where reliability and lightness must coexist without compromise. Despite its full-size dimensions, it remains one of the lightest connectors in its category, making it ideal for those who want to reduce the overall weight of their rack without sacrificing practicality of use on the wall.
Construction and technology
The structure is made of high-strength aluminum with a double longitudinal rib that optimizes the strength-to-weight ratio while ensuring a wide internal surface for rope movement — a fundamental detail during rappelling and rope retrieval maneuvers at belay stations. The SphereLock nose is the key technology: the screw gate engages ergonomically and intuitively, reducing the risk of accidental opening even with gloves or in cold and humid conditions typical of high-altitude mountaineering.
