DESCRIPTION
The BEAL Opera 8.5mm Unicore is a single rope for sport climbing and mountaineering that sets a precise technical record: at 48 grams per meter, it is the first single rope in the world to fall below the 50 g/m threshold, combining a diameter of only 8.5 mm with certified strength for use as a single rope.
Technologies and construction
The heart of the project is Unicore technology, which welds the core and sheath into a single compact body: in the event of a partial cut to the sheath, the rope maintains structural integrity and does not separate, a critical factor on exposed walls or during falls over sharp edges. The DRY Cover treatment waterproofs the fibers of the outer sheath, reducing water absorption in rainy, snowy, or icy conditions and limiting the increase in weight that would make the rope stiff and difficult to manage. The reduced impact force translates into a lower load on protection, anchors, and the body in the event of a fall.
