DESCRIPTION
The Dynafit Mezzalama was created to meet the demands of Grand Course ski mountaineering races, where every gram and every hundredth of a second on the descent can make a difference. Compared to the previous version, this ski incorporates a series of geometric updates designed to reduce the margin of error during the downhill sections of the longest and most challenging competitions.
Geometry and Construction
The slightly wider tip compared to its predecessor improves floatation on the variable snow conditions typical of major alpine traverses. The extended rocker at the tip facilitates turn initiation and reduces the muscular effort needed to start a turn, a significant advantage when legs are tired from long ascents. The short radius ensures high maneuverability even on steep and narrow slopes, making the ski more responsive and direct in its trajectories.
Race Performance
The combination of these three elements—a more generous tip, extended rocker, and reduced radius—results in a ski that forgives setup errors and allows for conserving precious energy on the descent, a fundamental resource in Grand Course competitions where managing one's strength is as important as pure speed.
