The Black Diamond Gridtech Storm Hood are softshell gloves designed for those who face variable weather conditions in the mountains, during mountaineering, high-altitude trekking, or climbing in cold and wet environments. Their construction makes them versatile: they protect against the elements without sacrificing tactile sensitivity and finger mobility.
Construction and Materials
The main body is made of grid fleece fabric, which provides active thermal insulation thanks to its trapped air channel structure, while also managing moisture produced by physical activity. Sweat is wicked away from the skin, preventing the annoying wet effect that cools hands during breaks.
The distinguishing feature of these gloves is the 3-layer waterproof and breathable hood, which can be folded and stored in the cuff when not needed. When conditions worsen — rain, snow, wind — the hood deploys to cover the fingers, transforming the glove into a hybrid solution between a mitt and a finger glove.
