DESCRIPTION
The Atomic Backland Summit 5 BR is a ski touring binding designed for junior skiers venturing into winter mountain environments, built on the same technical platform as the adult version of the Backland Summit line. It is not a simplified version, but a complete system that replicates the key functionalities of the original binding, adapting them to a lighter user profile.
Technology and Safety
The release value is adjustable up to DIN 5, a suitable range for junior skiers in technical development, ensuring a safety response calibrated to the user's weight and strength. The system integrates flex absorption, which reduces impulsive stress on the knee during descents on uneven snow, an element that has a direct impact on joint protection in young skiers. The BR (Brake) plate incorporates the brakes directly into the binding, eliminating additional components and keeping the system compact.
Uphill and Downhill Use
For uphill progression, the binding features the typical walk modes of the Backland line, with heel freedom of movement for efficient climbing. The lighter construction compared to the adult version reduces the overall weight of the equipment, a concrete advantage for those covering significant elevation gains. It is compatible with ski touring boots with WTR soles and Tech Inserts, the standard format for this type of activity.
