DESCRIPTION
The ATK Manual Ski Brakes are replacement rear ski stoppers designed to keep ATK bindings operational without having to replace the entire binding. Sold as a pair, in the 86 mm size, they cover the most common ski widths in mid-range freeride and ski touring.
Compatibility and construction
These brakes are compatible with the entire ATK line, including race, speed touring, and touring bindings. The manual version requires the stopper to be inserted and removed by hand, without automatic mechanisms linked to the heel piece closure — a solution appreciated by those who practice technical ski mountaineering and want to minimize components subject to wear or icing.
When to replace them
Brakes are among the parts of bindings most subject to mechanical stress: impacts against exposed rocks, icy snow, and repeated opening and closing cycles accelerate their deterioration. Having an original ATK replacement kit allows you to restore the safety functionality of the binding — the brake holds the ski in case of release, preventing it from sliding downhill — without incurring costs or downtime related to the complete replacement of the binding.
