DESCRIPTION
The EDELRID Kids Shield is a softshell helmet designed specifically for children and teenagers who are new to sport climbing, whether outdoors or indoors. The In-Mold construction combines an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core with a polycarbonate outer shell, resulting in a lightweight yet structurally solid helmet capable of effectively absorbing and distributing impact energy.
Protection and regulatory compliance
The helmet is certified according to EN 12492, the European standard specifically for mountaineering and climbing helmets, which mandates tests against lateral, frontal, and rear impacts. This ensures complete protective coverage of the head, unlike cycling helmets which only test the top area.
Fit and adjustments
- One size with a rear adjustment band covering head circumferences from 48 to 56 cm, suitable for most school-aged children and teenagers
- Fully adjustable chin strap with a quick-release buckle system, to adapt to the child's face shape without needing to alter the structure
- Softshell design with a clean and compact profile, available in colors designed for a young audience
The lightweight construction reduces neck fatigue during prolonged sessions at the crag or in the gym, making the helmet easy for even the youngest to wear without becoming an obstacle to technical progression.
