DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Axess is a pre-knotted polyamide sling designed for sport climbing, where the simplicity and reliability of the equipment are as important as technique. At 12 cm long, it is the shortest in the Axess series — ideal for limiting rope drag on routes with closely spaced protection and less intricate sections.
Construction and materials
The sling is made from high-tenacity polyamide, a material known for its resistance to abrasion and dynamic tensile forces. The webbing width is 12 mm, with a certified strength of 22 kN when open, sufficient to absorb the forces of a fall in sport climbing. The pre-knotted loop simplifies quick attachment to the quickdraw without having to deal with additional knots in the field.
The STRING protection system
The distinguishing element compared to a standard sling is the integrated STRING tubular protection: a sleeve that wraps around the sling at the point of contact with the carabiner. This solution serves two practical functions: it keeps the carabiner correctly oriented — reducing the risk of rotation on the gate — and protects the webbing from friction wear at points of higher stress, extending the useful life of the material.
