DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Grigri+ Green is an assisted-braking belay device designed for both lead climbing and top-roping. The central mechanism is a rotating cam that automatically engages in the event of a fall, locking the rope without requiring active intervention from the belayer — a feature that significantly reduces the margin of error in critical situations.
Anti-panic mechanism and operating modes
The anti-panic handle is the distinctive element of this version: if the belayer instinctively squeezes the handle too hard during a fall, the system automatically locks the rope instead of letting it run. This function makes it particularly suitable for those new to belaying at the crag or in the gym. The device also integrates a dedicated top-rope mode, which simplifies rope management during top-roping by reducing friction during retrieval.
