The EDELRID HMPE Cord Sling 6mm - 60 cm is a sewn sling in kernmantle construction, designed for those seeking a lightweight yet high-performance device for mountaineering and climbing applications. The kernmantle structure combines two materials with distinct functions: a tightly woven polyester outer sheath, highly resistant to abrasion, and an HMPE inner core (High Modulus Polyethylene), a synthetic fiber of extremely high tenacity known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
Construction and Technical Performance
The polyester sheath plays a dual role: it protects the core from mechanical wear and provides the cord with sufficient structural rigidity to maintain its shape when setting up lanyards and anchors, greatly simplifying one-handed work.
