The Black Diamond Fifi Hook is a progress-capture hook designed specifically for aid climbing and caving. Its primary function is to allow quick anchors on cracks, edges, or small ledges, proving particularly useful for setting up off-axis pendulums or diverting the progression line away from water run-offs or areas of friction.
Construction and materials
The body of the hook is made of aluminum, a solution that ensures extreme lightness: the weight is only 22 grams, an almost negligible value on the total weight of the big wall or cave kit. The equipment includes a pre-sewn sling already integrated, ready for use without the need for additional equipment to connect it to the harness or belay chain.
Usage and safety limits
It is crucial to know the usage limits of this tool: the Fifi Hook is approved exclusively to support the static weight of one person and does not constitute personal protective equipment (PPE). It should therefore not be used as protection in case of a fall or as a primary safety anchor. Its correct use is as an aid to progression—to briefly hang, rest on a difficult aid move, or manage logistics on vertical walls—always combined with a certified and independent belay system.
